How it works
From opening the app to closing a moment.
This is what happens on your phone, taken from the app itself. Nothing here needs an account or a connection.
The journey
Choose a companion
During setup you meet all five and pick one to make your home. You can switch pals any time in Settings.
Arrive in the Sanctuary
Your companion's painted scene, your name, a greeting that follows the time of day, and one question with five soft suggestions.
Visit a companion's space
One tab beside the Sanctuary shows your companion's space. Pick a different suggestion and that companion's space opens instead, without changing your home.
Do the moment
One focal thing per screen, with few words.
Close warmly
Your companion closes the moment with a warm word, often by name. There is nothing to rate and one clear way back to your day.
The Sanctuary
One screen, one question.
The Sanctuary is your companion's painted scene with a greeting that follows your phone's clock, such as “Golden hour”, “Quiet night”, “Slow morning”. Below it are five suggestions, each opening one companion's space.
The panel shows the Sanctuary's own words, set in type. It is not a screenshot.
What would feel good right now?
Choose a gentle suggestion, or just take a moment.

Home and visiting
You never lose your companion to get something done.
The app keeps two things apart: who you adopted, and what you need right now. Picking a different suggestion opens that companion's space for this visit. Your home stays the same, and each space always shows the companion who owns it.
1. Home
Babu
You adopted Babu. The Sanctuary is his.
2. Visit
Luna's Calm
You tap Find a moment of calm.
3. Back home
Still Babu
Nothing about your home changed.
Move, with Babu
You watch Babu move. Nothing watches you.
This is one of Babu's nine flows, Neck & Shoulder Reset, as it ships in the app: a short, muted, looping video. There is no camera and no form checking.
Closing a moment
Each companion closes in their own words.
There is nothing to rate and one clear way back to your day.
Babu
“Small movements make a big difference.”
Kiko
“Rest easy.”
Ryu
“Feel bright.”
Haru
“Feel light.”
Luna
“Keep this thought. You can return when you need to.”

The Season of You
- The five companions appear as blossoms in rings that fill only with moments you really finished.
- The season only ever grows. Missing days changes nothing.
- After at least three real moments, a few gentle qualities can appear, such as “Moon Person” or “Calm Keeper”.
- No numbers are shown: no counts, percentages or streaks.
How it compares
Some common approaches, and what AsanaPals does.
These describe approaches found in the category, with sources. They are not a ranking of any app.
- Progress tracking
- Common approachSome apps count consecutive days of practice, such as a meditation run streak. Research has found that people treat keeping a streak as a goal in itself. [2][1]
- AsanaPalsNo streaks, counts or percentages. A moment is remembered in plain words, and missing a day changes nothing.
- Companion characters
- Common approachSelf-care pet apps exist, where you look after a virtual pet by completing self-care goals. [3]
- AsanaPalsNo goals to complete. You keep a companion company, and the companion you need depends on the moment.
- Guided movement
- Common approachSome yoga apps use the phone camera to track your pose and give form feedback. [4]
- AsanaPalsNo camera. Babu does the movement on screen and you follow at your own pace.
- Data
- Common approachA 2023 review of 32 mental health apps gave 19 of them a privacy warning label. [5]
- AsanaPalsThe app has no account, no network access and no analytics. Your moments stay on your phone.
